Inspire Afterschool

Inspire empowers youththrough education & community

About Inspire

Inspire: A Shalom Afterschool Initiative is a direct response to the needs of refugee and immigrant youth in the Clarkston community. Many refugee and immigrant youth have experienced little or interrupted formal education. As English Language Learners, they face the challenge of adjusting to middle school while also navigating a new educational system, a new language, and a new cultural context.

Inspire responds by offering middle school students a safe place to spend their afternoons, healthy snacks, enrichment activities, academic support, positive cross-cultural relationships, and family engagement.

    Program Hours: Monday–Thursday, 4:30–7:00 PM

    Vision

At Shalom our vision is to seek the Shalom of the community by addressing the social, economic, emotional, physical, and spiritual needs of those around us. Through Inspire, we contribute to the holistic development of middle school youth through academic support, creative expression, physical health, positive relationships, and family engagement.
